Welcome to The Photo Lounge - Categories
Each category focuses on a different subject, style, or setting. This helps photographers choose where their photo fits best and helps visitors compare similar photos when viewing current entries or past winners.
The Current contest catagories are Nature, City and Architecture, Pets and Animals, and People. Some photos may include more than one subject, but each entry should be placed in the category that best matches the main focus of the photo.
Nature
Nature photography focuses on outdoor scenes and natural subjects such as trees, trails, flowers, water, sunsets, and landscapes. This category is meant for photos that highlight the natural world and show details people may not always notice. A strong nature photo may use lighting, color, framing or perspective to make the outdoor scene more interesting.
City & Architecture
City and architecture photos focus on buildings, streets, bridges, signs, sidewalks, and other human made structures. This category is for photos that show interesting shapes, patterns, lines, textures, or details found in urban spaces. A city photo may show a wide view of a downtown area, while an architecture photo may focus more on one building or smaller design detail. Photos in this category should make the viewer notice the structure, layout, or design of a place.
Pets & Animals
Pets and animals focuses on animals as the main subject. This category can include pets, wildlife, insects, or any animals. A good animal photo may show personality, movement, expression, or the environment around the animal. Photos in this category may include people as long as the animal is the main focus. The goal is to capture a moment that makes the animal stand out.
People
People photos focuses on images where a person or group of people is the main subject of the image. This category can include portraits, candid shots, group photos, events, or everyday scenes that show personality and emotion. A strong people photo should capture expression, mood, or a meaningful moment. Photos in this category may include pets, nature, or city backgrounds, but the person should still be the main focus of the image.
